Claudia Gastaldo

Claudia Gastaldo is a Peruvian visual artist and surface designer, with a Bachelor's degree in Painting from the Faculty of Art and Design. With an extensive artistic career, her work encompasses painting, editorial illustration, and textile and surface design.

Her visual universe has been shaped by diverse cultural influences that have left a lasting imprint on her memory. As an Italo-Peruvian, she has grown up between two cultures that have broadened her perspective and enriched her artistic vision. Peru’s rich cultural heritage, its ancestral textile traditions, craftsmanship, and powerful use of color, together with classical European influences, are references that nourish her work and naturally emerge throughout her creative process.

Her designs have been presented internationally at SURTEX New York, a surface design and licensing trade show. She has developed complete collections of designer fabrics and wallpapers, and has presented her interior design products at CASACOR, the leading architecture, interior design, and landscaping exhibition in the Americas, and EXPODECO, Peru’s leading design and architecture fair. Throughout her career, her work has received fifteen national and international awards.

Her surface design work is characterized by a distinctly eclectic style, resulting from her Fine Arts background, her own artistic language, and the integration of elements from different eras and cultures.

With the same passion as a painter facing a blank canvas, she develops each design as an extension of her artistic practice, where exploration and discovery are essential parts of her creative process. Beyond their decorative function, her designs transform walls into immersive experiences — spaces where art becomes part of everyday life.
